Privacy policy
Effective 7 November 2026
This policy explains how Youtube ops (“the app”), an internal tool operated by Platypus Labs, handles data it receives from Google when it is connected to a YouTube channel.
Who uses the app
The app is used only by Platypus Labs to manage YouTube channels that Platypus Labs owns. It is not offered to the public and has no user sign-up.
Data the app accesses
When a channel is connected through Google sign-in, the app can access, for that channel only:
- basic channel details (channel id, name and handle), used to confirm it is connected to the right channel;
- the channel's videos and their metadata, used to upload videos privately and to update titles, descriptions, thumbnails and privacy status;
- public statistics such as view and like counts, and YouTube Analytics and Reporting data such as views, watch time, audience retention, impressions and click-through rate.
The app uses these Google OAuth scopes: youtube.upload, youtube, youtube.readonly and yt-analytics.readonly.
How the data is used
The data is used only to upload and manage our own videos and to report on their performance to the Platypus Labs team. It is not used for advertising, is not sold, and is not used to build profiles of YouTube viewers. YouTube Analytics data is aggregated by YouTube and does not identify individual viewers.
Storage and security
The app runs on a computer controlled by Platypus Labs. OAuth refresh tokens are stored encrypted in the app's database. Analytics figures are stored in the same database so trends can be shown over time. Data is not transferred to third parties, except that video files and metadata are sent to YouTube when we upload them.
Retention and deletion
Data is kept while the channel is connected and is needed for reporting. Disconnecting a channel removes its stored tokens. Access can also be revoked at any time from your Google Account permissions page. To ask for data to be deleted, contact us at the address below.
Google and YouTube
The app uses YouTube API Services. By using it you are also bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. The app's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
